Career Diversity and ACES Grads
Earlier this spring, I had the privilege of attending a meeting of the Council for Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching in Washington, DC. While I was in our nation’s capital, I was also able to attend an ACES Alumni Association get-together for our College’s graduates who live in the DC area. It was a great evening, drawing together grads from across the years—alumni from the 1950s all the way to those who earned their degrees in the last two or three years. What I found most impressive was the diversity of careers represented among our alumni: lawyers, environmentalists, lobbyists, public relations specialists—the list could go on. The DC event reflected the fact that a degree from the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences can open many doors. If you know of young people who are exploring career options, I hope you’ll direct them toward our college’s web site and its career pathway section. They will be pleased with the options they find waiting for them via the College of ACES.
